Bameso signs Ikechukwu Diogu

Club Bameso (TBS) signed experienced 37-year old American-Nigerian ex-international power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204cm-116kg-83, college: Arizona State). He moved there from Chemidor in Iranian Superleague. In 10 games he had very impressive stats: 17.9ppg, 9.7rpg and 2.0apg last season. Diogu helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. They also advanced to the league semifinals. 2020-21 was a great season as he was named to Asia-Basket.com All-Iranian Superleague Honorable Mention.
In 2005 he was drafted by Golden State Warriors (NBA) in first round (9th overall). Diogu attended Arizona State and it will be his 17th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
He also represented USA at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast (Australia) three years ago. His stats at that event were 4 games: Score-2 (21.0ppg), Reb-2 (10.8rpg), 1.3apg, 1.0spg, FGP: 50.0%, 3PT: 34.6%, FT: 86.4%.
Diogu is quite experienced player. He has played in four different countries on three different continents (Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Diogu has played previously professionally in China (Guandong Tigers and Blue Whales), Japan (Shimane Magic), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros, Leones and Capitanes) and NBA (LA Clippers, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others His team won Puerto Rican BSN Regular Season in 2013 and 2018. Diogu was also also voted Eurobasket.com All-Commonwealth Games 1st Team back in 2018.
He is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Bameso.
